Emerald Apartments are located in the Heart of the Huron National Forest. The AuSable River and numerous inland lakes and streams offer excellent opporunites for fish and boating. Two canoe and kayak liveries service the Glennie area: Alcona Canoe Rental & Campground and Rollways Resort. The Hoist Lake and Reid Lake Foot Travel areas located north of town provide several miles of hiking trails. The Huron National Forest provides thousands of square miles of land for hunting deer, bear, turkeys, waterfowl and other small game. There is a tail head located in Glennie providing access to the state’s snowmobile trails system. The Corsair Ski Trails located between Glennie and Tawas are available for cross-country skiing. Michigan’s Shore-to-Shore Horseback Riding trail passes through the area. The Eagle Ridge Gold Course is located on the south edge of town. Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist and Seven Day Adventist churches are located in Glennie.
